Daniel Barnes presents a "Low Stress Trio” with saxophonist Jeff LaRochelle, bassist Ben Dwyer & Daniel on drums. The concept is to get together and play material from the jazz cannon that we know, not to stress over learning new material. We’re gonna improvise & let the muse flow. European Tour with Hailu Mergia

Legendary Ethiopian keyboardist Hailu Mergia has been asking Daniel to drum for his European concert tours. This is Daniel’s third time out. The group is a trio with bassist Alemseged Kebede. This leg of their journey includes Danish, Latvian, German, Scottish & United Kingdom dates!

I’ve had to cancel Friday March 18th for Barnes & Woldemichael Ethio-Jazz. We’ll be at Hirut again on April 22nd. Ethiopian Jazz Classics & Daniel's Original Compositions are the focus of the group which features veteran saxman Girma Woldemichael, bassist Roger Williams & Joel Visentin on keyboards. Cover Charge is $15. Live music is back! (again)

On this night of "global jazz" Daniel's trio opens for jeremy's which is one of the leading edge, finest instrumental trio's in the land. Daniel's Ethio-Jazz Trio performs original music by its drummer/composer/leader alongside that of Mulatu Astatke (the “father of Ethio-Jazz”) and others in the genre. Daniel has performed and/or recorded with a who’s who of Ethiopian music including Aster Aweke, Mahmoud Ahmed & Alemayehu Eshete. The genre itself combines ancient Ethiopian music traditions with American, Caribbean & Latin influences for a unique international jazz sound. Joining Daniel are Simeon Abbott on keyboards & Roger Williams on bass.
